Livonia is a city in the northwestern part of Wayne County in the US State of Michigan. It’s a large suburb of Detroit, with an array of traditional neighborhoods connected to the metropolitan area by freeways. According to the 2010 United States Census, the population of Livonia was 96,942, which makes it the ninth largest municipality in Michigan. 

The borders of Livonia Township were defined by the Legislature of the Territory of Michigan on March 17th, 1835, according to Wikipedia. The settlers named the community “Livonia” after Livonia, New York, a town in the western part of the state from where many had migrated. It wasn’t until May 23rd, 1950, that Livonia was incorporated as a city.
